Lenovo U1 spotted at the FCC

It seems that the Lenovo U1 has been spotted recently at the FCC, and for those wondering what the Lenovo U1 is, it’s a hybrid tablet that was unveiled last year in 2010 at CES, making it a good one and a half years ago. If you’re wondering what a one and a half year old tablet could bring to the table now, especially with the influx of tablets as of late, you would not be alone.

Well for starters it has been updated slightly, so instead of running on the custom Skylight Linux OS that it was originally running on, it is now running on Android’s Froyo 2.2. Granted it would have been better if it was on Honeycomb 3.2 or at least Gingerbread 2.3, but we can’t really complain; at least Lenovo is attempting to keep with the times.

No word on when the device will ever see the light of day, but the good news is that since it was spotted at the FCC, it’s at least one step closer to being pushed out to the masses.
