iControlPad introduces analog sticks to the iPhone

There are plenty of wonderful games available for iOS, some of which are arcade styled games that feature on-screen joysticks and buttons. As great as the idea and concept of on-screen joysticks and buttons are, the sad reality is that they will never be able to match the finesse and feel of an actual physical joystick and buttons. Fortunately there are a couple of accessories available for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad, such as the iCade for the iPad by ThinkGeek, and now for the iPhone we have the iControlPad.

It attaches to your device and pairs up with it via Bluetooth, which means that in theory it ought to work with other smartphones capable of Bluetooth connectivity. Unfortunately, it’s also this Bluetooth connectivity which apparently does not allow official iOS apps/games to work with it, which means you will have to jailbreak your device to enjoy the iControlPad in all its glory.

If you’re interested in getting your hands on the iControlPad, it will cost you $70 and it is available from their website.
