Windows Phone 7 See Growth In Market Share

Last time we checked, Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7’s market share was way down at the bottom along with webOS with Android leading the way and iOS maintaining a steady control and at the same time seeing RIM taking a nose dive. However all that is looking to change, at least according to Millennial Media’s latest report on the smartphone industry in the US whereby Windows Phone 7 has seen some significant growth in the past month, although its market share still pales in comparison to iOS and Android, very possibly due to the announcement of the Mango update which brought about renewed hope for current users and Windows Phone 7 users-to-be.

The growth is also thought to be attributed to the release of the HTC Trophy which would be Verizon’s first Windows Phone 7 device. Recent news has suggested that carriers usually tend of push their customers more towards Android and iOS devices at their stores, even when the customer has said that they would prefer a Windows Phone 7 device.

Either way we can only wait and see if Microsoft will manage to play catch-up with iOS and Android when Mango is released along with the slew of new Windows Phone 7 devices that is expected to hit the markets later this year and next year.
