Motorola May Finally Unlock Bootloaders?

Published

on

As we all know, HTC has finally given in to the cries and demands on their customers and finally gave them what they were asking for, an unlocked bootloader which would allow them to load their own custom ROMs and do away with all the carrier bloatware, basically making the experience of using their device a much more faster and enjoyable one.

Motorola users not to feel left out have also started petitioning for unlocked bootloaders, gathering about 10,000 signatures and all they got in response was a “We’ll look into it,” which frankly speaking was not very encouraging. Anyway a Twitter user Irwin Proud who apparently spoke to Motorola’s VP of software for Motorola Mobility, Christy Wyatt, reported back saying that Motorola was taking the bootloader very seriously and that they were working hard to get it out to the developer community, and that they could expect the update to come in Q3/Q4 this year.

That’s pretty great news for Motorola users who have been dying to get the bootloader unlocked all this while, so I guess it looks like another couple more months of waiting, but at least this time it was confirmed by an executive of Motorola, which more or less makes it official.
