Foxconn Reopens Polishing Factories

Published

on

It’s about two weeks since Foxconn’s factory explosion, after which Foxconn went ahead to close down several of the polishing factories to further investigate the situation, which some have interpreted as further delays on the iPad 2. While the factories where the explosion occurred are still closed, Foxconn has gone ahead and reopened their polishing plants.

According to the research firm IHS iSuppli who said in May that if production at the Foxconn Chengdu factory is disrupted until the end of June, it could very well result in a production loss of about 500,000 units of the iPad 2 in the second quarter, further causing shortages in iPad 2 stocks.

Hopefully the reopening of polishing facilities will help ease the burden of the shortages.
