Amazon Tablets May Arrive This Summer And Running On Texas Instruments Processors?

About a week ago we reported that there were rumors  that Amazon will be releasing their tablets come this holiday season and now it looks like those rumors may very well be true as it has been reported by some Taiwanese component that we will be seeing Amazon’s lineup come this late summer.

Amazon is reportedly preparing to ship anywhere between 700,000 to 800,000 units which means they are dead serious about entering the tablet market, and among their shipments include their 7-inch tablet the Coyote and the 10-inch tablet, named Hollywood. We’re guessing that the 10-inch tablet will most probably come shipped with Android’s Honeycomb 3.1 operating system but we can’t be certain that the 7-inch will be fortunate enough to arrive with Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 operating system which was created and optimized for 7-inch tablets.

Interestingly enough it is reported that the tablets will not be powered by Qualcomm or NVidia’s processors, but rather Texas Instruments’ OMAP processors. Either way it looks like Amazon means business, but will they succeed or will it be a flop like Motorola’s Xoom? Guess we will have to wait to find out.
