Windows Phone 7 Ads Have More Clicks that iOS

A recent report published by mobile ad network Smaato has shown that more Windows Phone 7 users are clicking ads (in their devices) than iOS users. Does that go to show that iOS users are getting smarter? Jokes aside does anyone honestly click ads? I know what the report shows but how often have we seen ads and go “Well I want to buy THAT!”

Unless of course the ads serve a purpose such as providing benefits to the user if they click it, i.e. more points/gold to spend within a game or perhaps a coupon or voucher that they can redeem.

It is still quite odd considering how small the user base of Windows Phone 7 is but yet they have managed to out-do Apple, Blackberry and Android.

Smaato’s CMO, Harald Heidhardt believed that despite their relative small market presence due to how new they are, WP7 devices are seen as a novelty by owners and this contributes to the higher mobile advertising performance. Because Microsoft’s SDK isn’t bringing ads outside of the US and there may be less mobile ads in Windows Phone devices, it’s likely more attention is paid to the ads in apps or mobile websites, he said.
