Samsung Galaxy S II preorder sales hit 3 million mark

So it seems that the Samsung Galaxy S II has been quite a hit worldwide with Samsung announcing preorder sales around the world reaching 3 million units at the end of April and also beating out iPhone 4 sales in Korea, although one could argue that Samsung does have the home advantage in this case.

This 1.2 GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 and 4.3 inch Super AMOLED screen Android phone has been out less than a month but has since received favorable reviews all over the internet. However this success could be derailed at Google’s I/O tomorrow, according to Stefan at IntoMobile, who thinks that perhaps the announcement of a newer and improved version of the Android operating system might put off potential buyers who might wish to hold off on making a purchase for the moment, not to mention Apple would will reveal the iOS 5 at Apple’s WWDC in a little less than a month.

Compared to the amount of Windows Phone 7 sales of 675,000 handsets, could this be a sign of the popularity of the Galaxy S II and the ever increasing awareness and confidence of the Android operating system?
