Patent Troll Lodsys Has Its Eye On Android Now

You would think that after Apple had pretty much put its foot down and stood by its developers that Lodsys would have backed off, but now it looks like they have jumped from one big company to another. Now it seems that Lodsys is targeting Android developers with the same patent infringement lawsuit that they had used to target iOS developers earlier.

Apple had earlier sent a rather stern letter to Lodsys which essentially told them to back off as Apple had already licensed the patent from them which basically covered all of their developers in the process. According to Lodsys Google had also bought the same license as Apple, which means based on what we know, Android developers should be covered by the same license too, which makes Lodsys’s lawsuit kind of null and void.

So will Google follow in Apple’s footsteps and stand by its developers against this patent troll? iOS developers are already attempting to pool resources together in the event that the lawsuit materializes and is taken to court. It seems that perhaps Android developers should start following suit too.
