More iPad 2 Shortages Due to Parts and Labor

Initially some of the blame for the iPad 2 shortages was due to LG who were shipping LCD’s that caused leakage but now it seems there may be another reason why the iPad 2 still continues to face shortages. First would be the Japanese earthquake and Tsunami which not only affected the iPad and iPhones but a lot of other electronic makers around the world.

Secondly it seems that Foxconn, one of the major manufacturers for Apple devices is currently experiencing shortage in not just components but in terms of labour as well which is making a dent in the manufacturer’s ability to produce Apple devices. The company’s goal is currently at 2.5 million to 3 million iPad 2’s a month.

However it is not just Apple who is facing such a crisis in terms of shortage of components as it seems that other companies such as Asustek Computer, Acer, Motorola, Apple, High Tech Computer (HTC), Quanta Computer, and Compal Electronics have all been working aggressively behind the scenes in order to secure as much components as possible. Apple’s COO Tim Cook is rather confident about all of this, claiming “there’s no issue that we’re aware of today that we view as unsolvable.”
