Huawei Wants In On The WP7 Action Too

So we all know that ZTE is one of the partners that Microsoft announced for their Windows Phone 7 platform, and that ZTE will be rolling out Windows Phone 7 devices early next year. Well Huawei, one of ZTE’s strongest rivals globally and within China have said that they are interested in creating devices for the WP7 platform as well.

However Microsoft has made no mention of Huawei and for the moment Huawei seems to be content to sit back and watch how the Windows Phone 7 market unfolds and develops before making the jump.

“ZTE revealed its own Windows Phone intentions on Tuesday, when Microsoft detailed the upcoming ‘Mango’ update to Windows Phone 7. ZTE and Huawei are strong rivals both within China and globally, where they dominate the markets for mobile broadband and for operator-branded low-end smartphones.

The entry of ZTE into the manufacturing of Windows Phones makes it more likely that the platform will become available on cheaper phones than at present.”

it is true that Windows Phone 7 devices tend to be on the higher end of the smartphone scale so with ZTE perhaps users will have a cheaper alternative, not to mention if Huawei got into the game themselves, we should be seeing tons of entry level Windows Phone 7 devices in no time.
