Foxconn Denies Anti-Suicide Pledge

Published

I’m sure most of you have read that Foxconn had apparently asked all of its employees to sign anti-suicide pledges which is quite a bizarre thing to do but considering that in 2010 whereby 17 employees of Foxconn had leapt to their deaths from the Foxconn building.

With a staff of 400,000 in Shenzhen those 17 suicide do seem rather small in that perspective but still alarming enough for the company to actually make their employees to sign anti-suicide pledges.

However Ellin Coy who is the spokesperson for Foxconn has said that “Foxconn does not ask its employees to sign any such documents, any reports to the contrary are inaccurate.” Granted when I first heard about the pledge it was almost laughable despite the unfortunate circumstances that it was based upon.

Judging from the photo above, it does not seem that Foxconn employees are a happy lot. A picture is worth a thousand words.
