Angry Birds For Windows Phone 7 Delayed

Has Microsoft gone ahead and jumped the gun yet again? For Windows Phone 7 users it looks like it’s bad news because one of the most popular games for phones – Angry Birds – will not be arriving May 25th as announced earlier, but rather it has been delayed and pushed to June 29th instead, which is not a complete loss for those who have been waiting to get their hands on the game.

If you recall Microsoft had jumped the gun last fall when it had implied that Angry Birds will be available on their Windows Phone 7 devices before consulting or getting permission from the games developers – Rovio.

Rovio’s Peter Vesterbacka blamed the delay on Microsoft’s legal team. “Let’s just say, Microsoft has a lot of lawyers,” he said. Perhaps this delay could also be attributed to Windows Phone 7’s upcoming update – Mango – which is reportedly due for release during the second half of 2011. Among its features include improved multitasking and faster resume times, which we assume will directly impact games such as Angry Birds. So perhaps the delay was created in order to for Angry Birds to coincide with the launch of Mango.
