Motorola Droid Bionic to be delayed

The Motorola Droid Bionic that was revealed at CES earlier this year was rumored to have been cancelled and replaced with another phone. But now it seems like that is not the case. According to the latest report from the Wall Street Journal, Motorola has announced that the phone will be delayed until Q3 of 2011. The phone was originally slated to arrive in Q2 this year, but was delayed due to unknown reasons. Speculations mostly put the problem as the phone being problematic and the 4G LTE not working properly.

However, Motorola has claimed that the delays are largely due to the company adding new features to the phone. Apparently they’ve been collecting feedback since the phone was shown of at CES and they want to make the phone “an even better consumer experience.” Though it wasn’t mentioned what new features would be added, it could be Motorola’s PR attempting to cover up any problems with the phone, or it could be the truth. Regardless of what the reason is, it looks like we’ll have to wait at least 2 more months before we even catch a glimpse of the phone in store shelves.

This delay seems to be a pretty common thing with Verizon’s 4G phones. First it was the ThunderBolt with no explanation or reason to its late arrival, and now we have the Droid Bionic. Will the Samsung Droid Charge suffer a similar fate? Let’s hope not.
