If there’s one thing that makes laptops more useful than most tablets, it’s the ability to make use of USB peripherals. From regular mice, keyboards, and thumb drives, the functionality of a laptop can be easily enhanced by just plugging in new devices. Well, it’s been recently discovered that the Motorola Xoom supports the ability to read USB drives – but not out of the box. After rooting and some modifications of the kernel, the folks over at Slatedroid forums have been able to make the Android tablet accept USB drives. Running out of space on your Xoom? No problem, just move the files over to your external hard disk to back them up. Enabling these features will void your warranty, but I’m sure you already knew that. It makes you wonder why Motorola didn’t include support in the first place. Head here to find out how you can make your Xoom work with USB drives.
