Windows Phone 7 update will prevent phones from unlocking

Looks like the days are numbered for the current method used to unlock Windows Phone 7 devices. Microsoft has announced that they will be patching up the code that allows the device to be unlocked unlawfully. This means that if users choose to update their phones, they will lose the ability to sideload apps onto their device and make unauthorized changes to the phone hence shutting down the usage of homebrew apps. But fret not, like all forms of security; hackers/developers will eventually crack it. Microsoft and the ChevronWP7 team are trying to work out a way where homebrew apps can work on all devices instead of just developer devices, but until then, unlocking is the only way the homebrew app community can continue to exist.
