If you own a Windows Phone 7 device and you’re not a fan of the Zune software used to manage it, you’re in luck. The developer behind the TouchXperience project for Windows Mobile is coming up with an alternative to Zune. Called the WP7 Device Manager, it will allow users to manage their phones, explore their phones and even lock and unlock the device. Users can even install and uninstall apps through the software, bypassing the need Windows Marketplace and allowing the installation of homebrew apps. The WP7 Device Manager will also support WiFi sync and transfers, removing the need for wires (unless the device is low on battery). With Microsoft coming down hard on Chevron WP7 shortly after it was released, we wonder if this software will elicit a response from them.
