Windows Phone 7 copy/paste will have limitations

According to a member of ChevronWP7 who got to try out the Copy and Paste function on the updated Windows Phone 7, the feature works but it is limited when it comes to using the feature in 3rd party apps. The phone can only copy text that is inside a textbox – any text that isn’t inside a textbox can’t be copied by WP7. A pretty severe limitation especially if you’re trying to copy text from let’s say, a 3rd party reader that doesn’t allow text editing. According to the report, if developers want to allow users to copy text, they will have to place them in textboxes. It is uncertain if the copy function will remain this way in future updates of WP7, but it feels pretty limiting for Microsoft to do so. Then again, this might not be a huge issue after all, we’ll just have to wait and see when we get the update for our phones. And as previously reported, the update is said to speed up the launching of apps on the phone and the overall speed of the phone. Hopefully we won’t have to wait much longer for the update to arrive.
