The day we’ve all been waiting for has finally arriver – the unveiling of the latest version of Android on the very first Honeycomb tablet by Motorola. After all the hype they generated for the tablet, you can rest assured that the tablet lives up to it – from its first impressions at least. We’ll have to get our hands on the final product before we can know for sure. But from the promo video and press release, it’s definitely looking like the Android tablet to beat – keeping in mind the year has only just begun, but let’s hope that things can only get better from here. The Motorola Xoom will run Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) on a 10.1″ widescreen HD Display with 16:10 aspect ratio (1280 x 800 resolution), a dual-core Tegra 2 processor, 1080p HD video support, a 5 megapixel rear camera (that can record video in 720p) , a 2 megapixel front facing camera, built in gyroscope, barometer, e-compass, accelerometer, and adaptive lighting. It even can act as a WiFi hotspot for up to 5 other devices. Combined with a 4G modem on this baby, it’s going to be hard for the competition to live up to it. The Motorola Xoom 3G/WiFi will be available in Q1 2011, with an upgrade to 4G available in Q2. From Q2 onwards, it will be sold as a 4G/WiFi-enabled device instead.
