Motorola DROID XOOM to have 4G through an external modem

Remember when we reported earlier that the Motorola DROID XOOM won’t be packing any 4G LTE radios and how we hoped that it would have a USB slot for an external modem? Well, it turns out that we were almost right. The upcoming Honeycomb tablet from Motorola will be able to support a separate adaptor for users to plug in a PCI Express modem to enable 4G on the device. This should solve all problems since not every user would want 4G, and they have the option to purchase the tablet without it, while for consumers who want 4G, they can simply get an external modem for that purpose. I guess Motorola has got all their bases covered with this one. With CES just around the corner, we can’t wait to see what other devices they’ll have in store for us.
