Turn your photographs into ASCII art with AsciiCamera

Goldrush computing have just released a new app for Windows Phone 7 called AsciiCamera. Previously available for the iPhone, AsciiCamera does what its name says- it turns photographs you take into ASCII art. If you don’t know what ASCII art is, it’s basically a picture that is made out of text characters. ASCII art was created because early printers lacked the ability to print graphics, and so text based graphics were used instead. Since that isn’t the case anymore, ASCII art has become more of a novelty than anything else. AsciiCamera for Windows Phone 7 has one step up from its iPhone brethren- the ability to create color ASCII art and a quick-share feature that works with Twitter. For only $0.99 on the Windows Marketplace, you can’t go wrong with adding a little pizzaz to your photographs. Give it a shot and let us know what you think! Watch a video promo after the break:
