Nuance powers voice search used in Price Check by Amazon

Nuance communications, a leading voice recognition company, has just announced that they were the ones behind the voice search function in Price Check by Amazon. Price Check, a useful app from Amazon that has been available for the past 2 days, allows you to conveniently check the price of an item in the Amazon online store. All users have to do is scan an item’s barcode, take a picture of a item, enter in the item’s name or say it aloud to initiate a search for the product. The app would then go through Amazon’s price listings and display the prices at which you can get it from Amazon.com. If the price on Amazon.com is more favorable, you can simply login to your account using the app and place an order online. If not, you can just purchase the item from wherever you are at the moment. Talk about convenient. Voice search for the app helps a lot when your hands are full and not really free to type or snap some pictures, or maybe if you’re too far away (standing in a long line) and you have no chance to get a scan or a photograph. Price Check by Amazon is available for free on the iTunes App Store. Give it a shot if you haven’t already, and let us know how useful you find it.
