LG Optimus One Android phone hits the one million mark

After reportedly making a huge loss in the mobile sector for Q3, the Korean manufacturers have finally found a winner on their hands. LG have just announced that sales of their Optimus One handset have hit the 1 million mark in just 40 days. Looks like their work with Android has finally paid off. If you’re unfamiliar with the LG Optimus One, it was released in October with Android 2.2- a version that many handsets have yet to upgrade to. There were 20 million Android phones sold in the most recent quarter, which is about 222 thousand a day and 8.9 million in 40 days. Compare that to LG’s Optimus One sales results and it shows that they have taken a substantial share in the Android handset market. LG has also entered the Windows Phone 7 market with the pretty well-received LG Optimus 7. Let’s see if they can replicate the numbers of the Optimus One.
