Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update Comes To ASUS ZenWatch

Better late than never, right? Well, this is not exactly late per se, since Android 5.1.1 Lollipop happens to be served only on the LG Watch Urbane to date where smartwatches are concerned, but thankfully, it looks as though all of that is set to change with word that the ASUS ZenWatch, too, would be on the receiving end of such an update. Chances are, other smartwatches would also be getting this particular update themselves.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is a big deal for Android Wear timepieces, since it will boast of support for always-on apps, the capability for one to draw emojis, not to mention taking advantage of new navigation gestures. Too bad the lack of a Wi-Fi radio on the ASUS ZenWatch means that Wi-Fi will not be enabled. Expect the OTA update to take a while before it hits your timepiece since this is a gradual, global rollout.
