Is This What Android Auto Looks Like?

Google has just introduced their latest developer guidelines for apps which will run on the soon-to-come in-car software. Android Auto is tipped to arrive before 2014 makes its way for 2015, where one will be able to interact with Android apps all the while driving, courtesy of a touchscreen display which will be integrated within select vehicles’ dashboards.

Do bear in mind that Android Auto apps are not exactly standalone apps, but rather, they happen to be smartphone or tablet apps which will feature an Auto component. Whenever you install the apps on your handset, the vehicle’s system is smart enough to recognize them for what they are, hence adding functionality to your Android Auto dashboard.

In such a manner, one is able to be on the receiving end of notifications, control music playback, as well as to make use of voice actions in the car. Similar in many ways to Google Wear, Google will continue to maintain a tight grip over the user interface, as device manufacturers cannot make use of custom skins – and will even be more locked down.
