Samsung Gear Store Trademark Registered

It seems that having a “virtual store” of sorts is the right way forward for just about every single hardware manufacturer these days. Take Apple’s App Store for instance – the number of downloads on the App Store has topped the $10 billion mark in January this year, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Samsung too, does look as though they would want a slice of the action as well, having registered another trademark known as Gear Store, which in all probability will have something to do with its Gear range of wearables.

This bit of information comes not too soon after we heard of Samsung too, registering the Gear VR trademark as well. The Gear Store trademark was applied for at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, where it has been described to be a “computer application software for wearable computer peripherals, wearable computers, wearable mobile phones, smartphones, mobile phones.”

Right now, if you happen to own compatible Samsung Gear smartwatches, you will be able to download them from the Samsung Apps store, so there remains every possibility of the Gear Store being a standalone, dedicated store that will cater strictly for its range of wearable tech only. What do you think of the Gear Store moniker?
