Samsung Building Fire Caused Samsung.com Website To Go Down

If you happen to be using a Samsung device earlier this morning, you might have received some error messages, as well as being unable to log on to Samsung.com. There is a very good reason for that, which is also a reminder to those of us who are so engrossed in the virtual world, that we are not quite sure what to make of the corporeal world anymore. Apparently, the Samsung SDS building located in Gwacheon, South Korea, saw its fourth floor catch fire, knocking off the Samsung.com website along the way.

The site proved to be unavailable, leading to error messages across a wide range of Samsung products until this morning at 6:15am EST. This fire began on Sunday afternoon (Korean time), where the building’s fourth floor contains the back-up data center for the South Korean manufacturer. It is nice to know that the main data center that is located in Suwon was not affected in any way.
