Phil Schiller Says Developers Won’t Gain Access to Fingerprint Sensor

If you are a third party developer for Apple’s iOS platform, then you would surely have been more than excited by the introduction of the new iPhone 5S, which will bring its fair share of faster processing speed, better battery life, etc, stuff that would not really blow anyone (or fish) out of the water for that matter. As for the Touch ID sensor, that is something else altogether – where fingerprint recognition in any direction allows you to free up some space in your brain for a URL that you’ve always wanted to visit, but somehow cannot remember because that space is reserved for something else far more important – your passcode. Well, here we are with Apple’s Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing, Phil Schiller, touting that third party developers will not be given access to the new Touch ID sensor.

That is a bummer, but then again, if you were in the shoes of a third party developer, just what kind of apps would you come up with which will take full advantage of this particular Touch ID sensor?
