Sony XTRUD Concept Seen

One great thing about concepts is this – you can always come up with whatever you like, and it cannot be scrutinized and criticized on the same level as that of an actual, upcoming device. The main defense? It is a concept, after all. Well, the efforts of one Francois Rybarczyk is certainly commendable when it comes to rolling out a conceptual smartphone, with Sony being the manufacturer behind the Sony XTRUD design. What makes the Sony XTRUD different from all the other high end smartphones that we have seen is this – it boasts of a modular design, giving you the possibility of a sustainable handset which should be able to last beyond a couple of years before it ends up obsolete.

This would mean you can change different parts on a “need to” basis. Take for instance, the camera module – instead of purchasing a new phone with a higher megapixel count outright, you can always just take out the old camera module and snap into place the new one and voila! You’re good to go. Do you think that modular designs have a place in the future of smartphones?
