It was just last November when Microsoft rolled out a spanking new version of Office Mobile that came pre-installed across the entire range of devices that were powered by the Windows Phone 8 operating system. Well, earlier this year in June, Office Mobile for iPhone rolled out as part of a special “benefit” for Office 365 subscribers. If one were to trace the calendar back even further, Symbian devices too, enjoyed Office Mobile. How about those of us who are toting Android-powered devices? We are glad to report that good things do come to those who wait, as Office Mobile for Android in the US have launched today, also for free as long as you are an Office 365 subscriber. In a nutshell, if you are an Office 365 subscriber, you are now capable of working on your Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents from just about anywhere, regardless of whether your mobile device runs on Windows Phone 8, iOS or Android operating systems.

In order to take advantage of this app, you will need to have a qualifying Office 365 subscription, which will include either Office 365 Home Premium or Office 365 ProPlus, and of course, an Android-powered device. While folks in the US will be able to enjoy Office Mobile for Android first, those living elsewhere should be on the receiving end of the app in the coming weeks. [Press Release]
