Chinese Scammers Exchange Fake iPhone Parts For Genuine Ones

Published

on

In China, fake iPhones are running rampant and it is safe to assume that you’d be able to find a fake iPhone pretty easily. However in an interesting twist, it seems that some enterprising sales people have managed to convince Apple to exchange their fake iPhone components for real ones! This is actually a scam that has recently been reported where a Chinese repair shop was scamming Apple. Basically what they did was they sent Apple fake iPhones and asked for components in order to have them repaired. We’re not sure how Apple managed to confuse the fake parts from the real ones, but they sent the shop real components, ultimately allowing them to build their own iPhones from genuine parts, which they presumably sold and kept the profit. Five people from the shop have since been arrested over the scam.
