Verizon Could Offer LTE-Only Smartphones From 2014 Onwards

What do you think of an LTE handset? Have you actually used an LTE smartphone before, only to realize that the data speeds over an LTE network is a whole lot faster than “normal” 3G? Well, if that is the case and you simply cannot get enough of LTE connectivity, Verizon Wireless might just have some good news for you. At Deutsche Bank’s Media, Internet, and Telecom conference, Verizon’s chief financial officer Fran Shammo did mention that they intend to offer LTE-only handsets from 2014 onwards.

Obviously, it goes without saying that when that happens, it will also signal the beginning of Verizon’s move in lowering subsidies on devices, and perhaps eliminating it totally in due time. Will this bode well for the industry? Only time will tell, but right now, I simply want to enjoy my 2013.
