Unlocking Your HTC One Could Delete Some Apps

Are you interested in HTC’s latest flagship, which has a minimal naming convention to boot, the HTC One? Well, if you have answered in the affirmative and love nothing better than to unlock your HTC One right after purchase in order to maximize its performance since you love to have custom apps and ROMs loaded, then do take note of a possible issue. It is not a big one, but for those who like things to get back as they are might want to take note – there is a bunch of apps such as the Calculator, Flashlight, Ringtone Trimmer, and Sound Recorder which are stashed in a preload directory on the HTC One’s data partition.

A factory reset would leave said directory untouched, but unlocking the device would remove all restrictions, and hence the data partition would be wiped clean. Sure, you can easily download better replacements of those from the Play Store for free, but it is still quite a hassle, don’t you think so? All in all, you have been warned.
