BlackBerry Igloo Update Is A Joke

Published

Now here is a rather interesting joke that RIM has pulled on BlackBerry Playbook owners – by announcing a spanking new update that weighs in at 37MB, which will bring your software version to 2.1.0.1314 while fixing an issue that users were experiencing when it came to in-app purchases. Other changes with the Igloo update were touted to be having the latest texts in a conversation showing up on top of the list instead of at the bottom, while MPEG-4 videos should now run smoothly without any hiccups. It seems that the Igloo update was meant for those living in Canada only, describing it as, “This software release improves igloo strength by adding a base of hockey sticks to the exterior, as well as adding a heard of powerful, angry, yet playful beavers to protect the igloo. Get the Canadian only, igloo software update today at: www.blackberry.com/iglooPowerUp”.

Thing is, the URL above is a hoax, and it is no longer a valid page. Perhaps RIM wants to have one last laugh among their faithful before releasing a far more serious BlackBerry 10 next year.
