What you see above (we do have a photo gallery of the device right after the jump) is the Nokia RM-581 Columbus Harmattan prototype, which some say that it was originally a device that was meant to be released sometime in 2009, but failed to do so because Harmattan was not quite ready for prime time action yet. Well, what you see is actually a prototype which ran on Maemo6, which is more commonly known by its other name, MeeGo-Harmattan. Some think that the Nokia N8 was styled after the Nokia RM-581 Columbus Harmattan prototype – what do you think about this bit of speculation?

It does seem as though the Nokia RM-581 Columbus Harmattan prototype was meant to be a landscape oriented device, while sporting an AF 12MP shooter at the back. Imagine 12-megapixels three years ago, don’t you think that it is quite nutty back then? As for the front facing camera sensor, that bit looks a little bit too large for its own good, but do bear in mind that this is but a prototype. What do you think about the Nokia RM-581 Columbus Harmattan prototype?
