If you feel that all you ever need to do with your phone is to make and receive calls as well as text messages, then a basic featurephone would do, without the need for any of those fancy smartphones. However, some folks would prefer to toe the line and move closer towards smartphone territory without actually crossing it – and I guess this is where both the Nokia Asha 308 and Asha 309 come in handy, where the former will carry dual SIMs, while the latter has just one SIM slot.

Either way, the Nokia Asha 308 and Asha 309 will be easy on your pocket financially and in terms of its shape, where Nokia touts they deliver a “smartphone experience” (whatever that means) by featuring Internet connectivity, apps, maps, social networking and games amongst others.

Shared features include a fluid ‘swipe’ user interface and an open environment for third-party app development, a 3”, scratch-resistant capacitive display, a 2-megapixel camera, integrated speakers and the Asha Touch operating system, coupled with Nokia’s very own new Xpress Browser which is said to consuming 90% less data than normal. Both devices will retail for $99 a pop when they arrive in Q4 this year.
