Can you imagine the kind of uproar that would happen if our mobile providers here in the US were to actually censor some words in text messages, preventing such texts from being transmitted to the intended recipient? Well, be glad that you are living in the land of the free and home of the brave, and we have just received word that the Iranian government has imposed a ban on the English word “dollar” as well as the Farsi word for “foreign money” after the rial, Iran’s currency, plunged to a new historic low against the US dollar today by nearly 8%.

Of course, there are some ways to get around this particular issue, where you can still use the word “USD”, and for brevity’s sake, the $ symbol would also do. Iran’s two largest mobile providers have announced that they have nothing to do with the word ban.
