Factory-sealed first-generation iPhone cameos on eBay for $10,000

Apple’s next-generation iPhone is expected to arrive sometime this year. And while everyone is getting excited about its release, apparently two eBay sellers are hitting the road backwards by selling unopened units of the first-generation iPhone. The two sellers on eBay, samsonbible and phsledge, are both selling their own sealed 8GB iPhone units for a whopping $10,000.

Both sellers believe that the vintage device is all worth the money, although some might beg to disagree, considering the fact that most electronic devices don’t really make good collectors’ items since they lose their value over time.

Old devices such as the Pixar Image Computer that we wrote to you about last month and the working Apple I computer that was previously auctioned on Sotheby’s are probably an exemption to the rule. Do you think that a factory sealed first generation iPhone is worth $10,000? I haven’t seen any bids yet as of this writing, so perhaps you might want to check them out.
