Windows Phone 7.8 and Windows Phone 8 compared

A reputable Windows Phone site in Russia has leaked out a bunch of differences that one can find in terms of features where Windows Phone 7.8 and Windows Phone 8 are concerned, and to our surprise, they even threw in a new feature for Windows Phone 8 which was not heard of previously. Most of these features were what some people expected to check out based on Microsoft’s announcement. Since WP7Forum had a part to play in this leak, and their previous unofficial announcements and leaks were rather reliable, so this can be said to be reliable.

Windows Phone 7.8 will receive the new Start screen in addition to the new Tile sizes, although majority of the other features will not be able to make the cut at all. You will be able to access Skype, RCS-e, and DataSmart in Windows Phone 7.8, but those will come in the form of separate apps, and will not be integrated as though it was Windows Phone 8. DataSmart will be the app of choice where users are able to monitor data usage, and RCS-e enables carriers to hook in data services.

As for Voice Command, Bing Audio, and cloud services, these will remain true all the way from Windows Phone 7.5 to Windows Phone 7.8, although Windows Phone 8 users will be receiving even more powerful versions of each.
