Samsung Galaxy Note II rumored for an October launch

For those wondering the “phablet” phase was here to stay, all they have to do is look at the Samsung Galaxy Note’s success. We’re sure Samsung realizes that too which is why we aren’t too surprised to hear that a successor to the Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note II, could be in the works. According to a recent set of rumors, the Galaxy Note II is pegged for a release in October and is expected to be a direct competitor to Apple’s next-gen iPhone (although we thought that’s what the Galaxy S3 was for). Based on the rumored specs, it seems that the Galaxy Note II will feature a display larger than 5.3″ and will come with an unbreakable display. It will also be slimmer, feature a quad-core processor and will run on Android Jelly Bean. While some of these specs do sound likely, we’re not sure if increasing the display to larger than 5.3″ might be such a good idea. After all the Galaxy Note is pretty big to begin with, and a display larger than that, we could be looking at another Samsung Galaxy Tab 7″ with cellular capabilities again. Either way we will be taking this with a grain of salt for now, so be sure to check back with us at a later date for more info.
