Everyone knows that Apple and Google are not the best of friends, although they do have some of their interests crossing paths at one time or another. One instance would be the presence of Google Maps on the iPhone, but having said that, Apple might have just taken yet another step to distance themselves from Google in China. Why do we say so? It seems that Bloomberg has discovered a “plot” by Apple to ditch Google as the main default search engine in China for their iPhones, prefering instead to rely on the more popular Baidu which is also a home grown search engine. It makes sense after all, appealing to the patriotic spirit of the folks living in China, in addition to Baidu already being the most popular web search engine in that part of the world. Bloomberg says that an announcement of this move will most likely happen when WWDC kicks off this month.
