Sprint’s push-to-talk is making a comeback as an app

We’re not sure how many phone owners out there will actually find a use for push-to-talk functionality, but it seems that Sprint is looking to revive that particular service by releasing an app called Sprint DirectConnect Now and will be making its debut on the Samsung Transform Ultra device, ultimately giving the phone walkie-talkie capabilities without the actual need for iDEN compatible hardware. We’re not sure when Sprint plans to make the app available for other devices, nor did they mention which platforms it would be available on (so far it seems to be compatible with Android devices), but if walkie-talkie features on your phone sounds like a good idea to you, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for it so check back with us again at a later date for more info.
