Despite both Apple and Samsung butting heads in their patent war, it looks like both the tech giants still need each other. Earlier reports have revealed that the new iPad’s are having its initial batch of displays made exclusively by Samsung as Sharp apparently could not meet the quality set by Apple, and now it looks like Apple will be turning to Samsung once again for the rumored iPad mini. This was revealed by an alleged Samsung executive who told the Korea Times this piece of information on the condition of confidentiality.

“The amount of the current contract is around $9.7 billion, butis expected to rise to $11 billion by the end of this year as Apple is planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.85-inch screen, and to sell more of its MacBook Air PCs using Samsung’s faster solid state drive storage.”

What do you guys think? Would Samsung really be so careless to allow its executives to go about flapping their lips about a supposed secret project, or is this merely a rumor for now? In any case, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled, so take all of this with a grain of salt for now!
