Panasonic Eluga coming to Japan and Europe in March and April

Earlier this year, Panasonic revealed their plans to enter the European market with an Android offering of their own in the form of the Eluga, a dual-core 1GHz device with a 4.3” qHD 960×540 display, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and will come with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread on board although an update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is expected to roll out in the Spring of 2012, and will be both dustproof and waterproof at the same time.

The good news for Europeans and the Japanese is that the Eluga will be seeing a launch on Japanese carrier NTT DoCoMo come 29th of March, while its European launch has seen its original launch in March pushed back to April, although no specific dates were outed, nor which carriers it will be expected to arrive on. This is particular big move for Panasonic whose Android offerings have been largely limited to the Japanese market all this while.

Unfortunately there was no mention of a possible stateside release, but here’s hoping that its European release will given Panasonic more reasons to bring the device over stateside, until then, if you wanted to get your hands on the Eluga, your best bet would be to have it imported.
