iPad 3 Smart Cover to feature protection for the back as well [Rumor]

One of the nice things about the Smart Cover for the iPad is that it keeps the bulk to a minimum while protecting your display. Unfortunately the lack of bulk means that it only serves to protect the front of your iPad while leaving its back portion fully exposed to scratches and what not. Well with the next-gen iPad set to launch in a few hour’s time, it seems that new rumors are starting to spread that suggests a new Smart Cover for the iPad 3 (or iPad HD) will be released as well, this time featuring protection for both the front and the back of the device.

For those trying to imagine how that might look like, some are saying that it will be similar to Incase’s Magazine Jacket, a case that sports a something similar to the Smart Cover on the front, while the rear shell is made from fiberglass covered with PU/bicast leather. Unfortunately it could not be confirmed if this alleged iPad 3/HD cover would be compatible with the iPad 2, especially since both the iPad 2 and iPad 3/HD’s designs have been rumored to be largely similar, with the latter allegedly slightly thicker than its predecessor.
