Huawei’s offerings have largely been limited to budget/affordable handsets with low-mid ranged specs. Not a bad thing especially for those looking to dip their toes in the world of smartphones but aren’t willing to spend a fortune on the latest or greatest, but it seems that the Chinese company’s plans have shifted this year whereby the company revealed several high-end Android powered handsets at MWC, one of them being the Huawei Ascend D Quad.

Now if you were looking forward to Huawei’s first quad-core offering, it looks like you might be in for a wait as according to reports, Huawei is only looking to begin mass production of the device in June, which means that by the time it hits our shelves, it could very well be July or August. For those who might have missed the news, the Huawei Ascend D Quad packs Huawei’s K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core processor under its hood with a 4.5” 1280×720 HD display, an 8MP rear-facing camera capable of 1080p Full HD video capture, Dolby surround sound, a 1,800mAh battery and will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich preinstalled. Are those specs impressive enough for you to wait until the second half of 2012?
