NERV, the fictional organization from the anime Evangelion, will gain more prominence in Japan when June rolls around, thanks to a special NERV edition of the Sharp SH-06D Android-powered smartphone. NTT DoCoMo will be the Japanese mobile carrier of choice to offer the SH-06D NERV, where it will be released in conjunction of the third installment of the Rebuild of Evangelion that will arrive this fall. The handset was specially designed to resemble the government-issued phone for all NERV personnel in the anime, and apart from the truly stunning external design, it will also come pre-loaded with original Eva-themed content alongside a specially created user interface that will have fanboys drooling at the edges of their mouth. Hardware specifications and a photo gallery are available after the jump.

How about its specifications? The Sharp SH-06D NERV Will run on a 1.2GHz dual-core OMAP 4460 processor, sport 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal memory, as well as an 8-megapixel camera, which are no different from the standard issue Sharp SH-06D which will be arriving later this month. No idea on pricing or availability as at press time, but since it is tipped to come in limited quantities, expect it to cost more than the vanilla version.
