Dual-core Windows Phone handsets reportedly being tested

Looking forward to seeing Windows Phone devices with dual-core processors? At the moment, due to the requirement and limitations that Microsoft has imposed on their manufacturing partners, all Windows Phone handsets come with single-core processors. While that might seem slow compared to their Android or iOS counterparts which are now seeing dual and quad-core processors, those who have used Windows Phone devices can attest to how fluid and fast the OS is despite it running on a single-core processor.

However that might soon change thanks to a fresh set of rumors, which is now claiming that Microsoft is testing Qualcomm’s MSM8960 1.5GHz SoC, a dual-core processor that Microsoft hopes to see used in its Windows Phone devices in the future. The Redmond company has never ruled out the possibility of dual-core phones in the past, and has even mentioned that they are planning for it, and with release of Windows Phone 8 Apollo later this year, it looks like dual-core Windows Phone devices could be coming sooner than we think.
