Caterpillar is a brand familiar to those in the construction industry, and perhaps looking to enter a new market, or perhaps looking to complement their existing market, the company has decided to release a rugged Android smartphone of its own dubbed the CAT B10. Given that it’s meant to be a rugged device, we guess it came as no surprise when we learn that it features IP67 certification for being water, scratch and dust resistant and will be able to withstand submersion underwater for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter.

As far as the rest of its specs are concerned, do not expect to be amazed. The CAT B10 sports rather modest specs in the form of an 800MHz processor, a 3.2” display, a 5MP rear-facing camera and a front-facing camera, and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread although there was talks of it being bumped to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the future. It will go on sale in May for European markets first and is expected to retail for $500.
