Apple’s rumored 7.85″ iPad will feature a “slim bezel display”

Some of you guys might be familiar with the rumors that suggests a launch of a smaller iPad is imminent. This seems to go against how Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs felt about smaller sized tablets, but according to a fresh set of rumors courtesy of Digitimes, it seems that Apple has found a workaround to the smaller size by employing a “slim bezel display” which would help maximize the screen space on the smaller tablet.

Unfortunately for those looking forward to seeing Retina display compressed into an even smaller 7.85” form factor, you’d be out of luck as the reports have also suggested that Apple could be using IPS/FFS panels instead, which we’re guessing will also help to keep the costs down. So much how is this rumored iPad mini going to cost? If the rumors are to be believed, anywhere between $249-$299, which is slightly more expensive than the Amazon Kindle Fire, but will be an affordable option to those who have always wanted an iPad.

While it’s not a stretch of the imagination to think that Apple could be interested in exploring the budget tablet territory, we guess we’ll have to take all of this with a grain of salt for now until more concrete evidence can be uncovered!
